The Bitter Sweet Truth About Lemons

Lemons are not just a pretty garnish, they pack a powerful punch of health benefits. Every morning before I eat I enjoy a cup of hot water with lemon. It not only gives me time to reflect and prepare mentally for the busy day ahead, it also jump starts my digestive system. 

Pure and simple is how to describe this warm and eye opening drink. Try drinking an 8oz. cup of hot water with 1/2 of a lemon (Yes I said 1/2) every morning for 2 weeks and I bet you'll notice a difference. In order for your body to feel and see the health benefits you must drink this consistently. Its not a short term commitment, but lets be honest your health and well being are worth the effort. 



Sure lemon isn't for everyone, but here are a few addition that will make it even more enjoyable.


  • a few sprigs of mint
  • a teaspoon of maple syrup or raw honey
  • a slice of fresh ginger
  • a dash of cinnamon
